WebAt Engelnhof, we have been using nurse-raised calves for several years. This means that an older cow (wet nurse) takes over the rearing of 2-4 calves, so they live together in a barn for the first 3 months after birth (from spring to fall also all together on the pasture) and the calves suckle the milk directly from her. WebThrough a varied crop rotation on our organically farmed, arable land (red clover grass, bush beans, maize, rye and chives) we promote biodiversity and sustainably enhance soil fertility. We do not use any synthetically produced pesticides, rather we hoe and "currycomb" the weeds (mechanical processes).
