WebI find large animals and large mechanical objects freaky in water. Fun sub for those who may be interested in the topic: r/Thalassophobia. The opening moments in Bioshock had a bit of this feeling. And more recently Subnautica had some scary large animal moments. The game that got me to write this post is Maneater. WebBut I’ve come to figure out that it isn’t so much the fear of the sea, it’s the fear of sunken objects in the sea. I was in a YouTube hole a while ago, and stumbled upon a 2.5 hour animation/simulation of how the titanic sunk. And seeing it slowly descend into the water made me shiver. And it was a pretty sleepless night for me.
