Despite being more Joy Division and Tuxedomoon than Lydia Lunch or DNA, there was a definite streak of weirdness and experimentation going on that made them stick out from many of their peers. Because of its location, Philadelphia was an easy place for bands from New York City and Washington, D.C. to play concerts.
