WebI will say that season 1 had the best story mainly because it had a predetermined direction already set in stone. They set the plot up nicely in the pilot and it kept the watcher interested because there really was no show like it on TV at the time. Sure there were tons of movies about prison breaks but never a full 22 episode season.
